Kakarikis are parakeets native to New Zealand and some of their outer islands. There are two types, the red front and the yellow front kakariki. There are several subspecies but once again, go online to research them further.
They are gentle birds with a lot of personality. They enjoying hanging out on your shoulder and head. They are quite active birds and have a short attention span. They will be with you for a few minutes but then their curiosity gets the best of them and they tend to fly around to see what else is happening. They return to you and are happy to be back on your shoulder until they go off again.
They like to scatch the ground for their food like a chicken would but can also hold food in its claw .
They are also good talkers.
