Pacific parrotlets have become very popular in the last several years.  There are many color mutations coming out now and more are appearing constantly.

They are genetically identical to the amazon parrot and have a similar personality.  The phrases used most often on pacific parrotlets are as follows: big bird personality in a small bird body,  big and bad, fearless, aggressive,  the pit bull of the parrot world.   These lttle guys don't realize they are only four inches tall.

Don't let that deter you from considering them as a pet.   If you can commit yourself to at least 20 minutes a day with this bird, you will have a great companion.

They are very territorial and don't do well with other birds.  You may be able to have two males or two hens in a cage together but that is about all.

Both males and females are capable of speech.
